Kali Mirchi Chicken (Black Pepper Chicken)

Ingredients

  • 1 Onion chopped
  • 1 1/2 Pounds of Chicken with Thigh/Legs
  • 1 Tomato
  • 2 Green chilli chopped and seedless 

  1. ½ cup Olive Oil 

  • 2 Cloves
  • 2 Cardamom
  • 1 tbs Ginger garlic paste
  • 1/4 cup whole milk yogurt organic 
  • 2 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin powder
  • 1 tbsp Salt 
  • 1.5 tsp Black Pepper Powder
  • 1 whole lime squeezed 
  • 1/2 tsp Garam Masala Powder

Directions

  1. Heat ½ Olive Oil in a Pan on Low/Medium Heat 
  2. Once it comes to a boil, add 2 cardamum and 2 cloves and 1 Green Chillie Seedless  
  3. Grind 1 Onion to a paste
  4. Add the Onion paste to the Pan and cook on Medium Heat for about 10 min. 
  5. Add ginger garlic paste and fry for 2 minutes.
  6. Add 1 ½ pounds chicken and fry for 6-8 minutes on high heat.
  7. Add ¼ cup yogurt and mix well.
  8. Add 1 Tomato
  9. Cook for 3-4 minutes.
  10. Add 2 tsp coriander powder, 1 tsp cumin powder and 1 tbsp salt and cook for 3-4 minutes.
  11. Add 1/2 cup water and 1 ½ tsp black pepper powder and cook till oil separates at the corners.
  12. Squeeze 1 lime 
  13. Cook for a minute.and you are done!


Best served with Rice/Pita Bread with Achar
